Copper State of Thanksgiving

Well, folks, it has been over two years since we opened our doors. Ergo, it seemed like a good time to stop and reflect upon all the things for which we are thankful (starting with the great “you can’t end a sentence with a preposition” rule and Latin words like “ergo”).

 

G.K.Chesterton once remarked, “I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought, and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.” Since I enjoy dabbling in high forms of thought, and since wonder and doubled happiness are things we fully support and cultivate at Copper State Brewing Company, we’re going to practice some gratitude right now. We have a lot to be thankful for, as every good and perfect gift comes from above. God is so good, all the time, and He has truly blessed our foundling little brewery.

 

So without further ado, here are just a few things that we are saying “thanks” for this year:

 

  • You—our customers, the reason we haven’t gone out of business yet—your response to what we’ve been trying to create at Copper State has been more than we could ask or imagine. So thank you.

  • Bacon—a close second to our customers—can you believe you beat out bacon? That’s how much we appreciate you.

  • The shape of the state of Wisconsin. Our logo would be pretty boring if we lived in Wyoming.

  • Opposable thumbs—we couldn’t drink beer without them, and also  itwouldbehardtotypeablogpostwithoutawaytopressthespacebar.

  • The fact that “gratitude” rhymes with “attitude”—you know, so that people can always say we should have an attitude of gratitude. Can you imagine if “attitude” rhymed with “jerkface”?

  • Our staff—don’t we have the best bartenders/servers/hosts? I think so. We really try hard not to hire jerkfaces.

  • Our distributors—we are thankful to announce that our little beers are branching out and heading further into Wisconsin, starting with Appleton, Oshkosh, and Fond du Lac…and then the world. Or not.

  • A new appendage for our canning line—that’s right, a nitrogen doser is coming next month, and it will be attached to our canning line, Frankenstein-style, and then we will be able to put our Chocolate Coffee Peanut Butter Porter into a can, for which you will all be thankful.

  • Early winter this year! Just kidding, almost no one is thankful for that, except maybe people who sell winter coats and fuzzy slippers.

  • Flights—no, not the airplane kind, but flights of beer…what a great way to try a bunch of different brews, and no need to involve the TSA.

  • Everett, our 87-yr-old wood delivery guy, because hey, he could be 97 years old, and then it would be tough for him to chop all that wood for our kitchen and fireplace.

  • Copper State merch—so cozy and soft, and so capable of telling the world about your favorite new brewery.

  • Our whole kitchen staff, because the food…oh, the food.

  • Puns

  • Yeast—without yeast, beer is just the wort.
